Mr. Chip Conk has a vast history of success behind him. He started using his entrepreneur vocation when he was still studying at UCSB. Day Dream Publications, started in 1983, was his first business venture. His sister Joellyn Conk and brother Chris Conk teamed up with him, extending their full support. The publishing company sold only themed calendars. The themes ranged from wildlife to Disney pictures. It was such a huge success that he was selected as one of the finalists for the Inc. Magazine Entrepreneur of the year award in 1993. By then, it became obvious to all that Chip Conk was going to take the business world by storm. Day Dream Publications was sold in 1997 for a whooping $67 millions.
Soon after their first successful venture, the trio partnered again, now in a new business endeavor: Chelsea Residential.
The sales of Day Dream Publications financed this new scheme. Chip Conk and his siblings established this real estate business in 1998. Chelsea Residential built multi-family homes in Texas, Austin, and Florida. This real estate business worked with a very innovative pattern. Instead of purchasing new communities, this company bought old, battered communities and renovated them. Once the old communities turned into luxurious, elegant ones, they leased these apartments to people at high rates.
From 1997 to 2005, the Chelsea Residential acquired 16 communities. In a matter of 8 years, the company managed to sell four thousand units of apartments to home owners. Their complete portfolio was sold in the year 2005.
